Males (72.3 %) played more than females ( 42.8 %). The most critical age was between 16 and 18, when nearly 3 out of 4 males played at least once. The most frequent games among boys were scratch cards (80%), billiards or other games of skill (50.7 %), sports betting (49.7%, practiced almost exclusively by males), lottery (42.5%).

A screening test was administered to identify children potentially at risk of developing gambling problems or pathological gambling.
Results: 9.8% of the sample experienced gambling problems, with significant difference between sexes (16.3% males versus 3.1% females). It was estimated that approximately 18,200 teenagers in Tuscany were likely to become gambling addicted.
